Production Technician/Material Handler

Sentinelle Medical is seeking a Production Techinician (focusing on light mechanical manufacturing and material handling) to work in our manufacturing facility. The position involves the assembly of light mechanical assemblies and subassemblies. Additionally, the position is responsible for performing the physical tasks involved in the shipping, receiving, storing, and distributing of products, raw materials, parts, supplies and equipment.  Responsible for filling all material related requisition forms for general inventory and R&D/NPI projects. Unpacks and checks goods received against purchase orders or invoices, maintains records of received goods, rejecting unsatisfactory items where necessary and reporting all materials shortages. Examines, stocks, stores and organizes items in the warehouse accurately. This is a great opportunity to work with a growing team in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
 
  
 
 
Responsibilities
 
  • Pick and stage raw material orders (from assigned work orders) that are required for production/NPI.
  • Fill material requisition froms for general inventory and R&D/NPI projects in a prompt and efficient manner.
  • Maintain accurate records of the movement of material in and out of the stockroom, as well as, ensuring the area
    is well organized and clean, and safety/security measures are being followed.
  • Record and control movement of inventory, as well as assisting in the general inventory counts as required.
  • Must be able to complete all inventory transactions using Navision.
  • Perform incoming receiving tasks (receipts, inspection, rejects, etc.).
  • Place, store, organize items in warehouse accurately.
  • Perform Outbound Shipping tasks (pick/pack/ship, carrier paperwork, customs, etc.).
  • Interface with internal customers in a prompt and courteous manner.
  • Report all material shortages and other material issues to Inventory Control Coordinator.
  • Perform other duties as requested by the Production Manager, related to the operation of the Warehouse, Production and Manufacturing floor.
  • Recommend/evaluate/implement opportunities for continuous process improvement, layout, material handling, etc.
  • Perform light mechanical assesmbly and test activities
     
Requirements
 
  • Previous knowledge of BOM structures, Work Order Management and part number revision control.
  • Previous experience working in a computerized inventory setting.
  • Previous shipping/receiving experience.
  • Working knowledege of Navision will be considered an asset.
  • High School diploma.
  • PC application expertise-Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.
  • Experience in light mechanical assembly.  
  • Good knowledge of SOP's, Health and Safety procedures, including OH&S Act & WHMIS.
  • Effective interpersonal skills with the abilitiy to work as part of a team.
  • Strong communication skills in English, both written and verbal is essential.
  • Strong mathematical skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to lift up to 30kg.
 
Desired
 
  • Technical/Technologist Diploma or Certificate
  • Electrical, Mechanical or Materials Management Degree or Certificate.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9001 or ISO 13485:2003 processes.
