Mechanical Engineer

Sentinelle Medical is seeking an energetic, creative and experienced Mechanical Engineer. Our ideal candidate has a passion for learning and a desire to take ownership of initiatives and drive them through to closure. Responsibilities
  • Contribute to the product development team at Sentinelle's facility in Toronto.
  • Liaise with manufacturing subcontractors in support of new products.
  • Work with manufacturing engineers and technologists to ensure that designs meet manufacturability, serviceability and human interface requirements.
  • Perform engineering analysis including tolerance studies, interference and motion checks, free body diagrams, engineering calculations, etc.
  • Initiate and prepare Engineering Change Notices to facilitate the approval and cut-in processes for engineering changes.
  • Analyze engineering problems and brainstorm solutions to technical challenges in the field of interventional radiology.
  • Actively contribute to problem solving activities for both early stage projects, and more mature products.
  • Perform hands-on prototyping and testing activities in Sentinelle’s R&D department.
  • Interact with customers, vendors and sub-contractors, including occasional travel.
  • Create and modify solid models and engineering drawings using Solidworks.
Requirements
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum 5-10 years experience in electronics and mechanical engineering environment.
  • 2-3 Years experience with Solidworks is required.
  • Product development experience in medical devices is highly desired.
  • Experience in the medical imaging field preferred.
  • Ability to work in a cross-functional team environment.
  • Strong oral and written communications skills.
  • Must be a highly motivated self starter.
  • Experience working with vendors, customers and sub-contractors.
  • Working knowledge of IEC60601 is a valuable asset.
  • Knowledge of molding, casting, forming and other manufacturing techniques.
  • A solid understanding of appropriate tolerances, standard fasteners and assembly techniques is required.
